EV Electric Vehicle Repairing Course in Rawalpindi

  • EV Electric Vehicle Repairing Course

Electric vehicles are now a growing part of Pakistan’s roads, but trained technicians who can repair them are still very few. EV cars, e-bikes, and electric rickshaws are increasing across the twin cities, yet most workshops lack the skills to handle high-voltage systems, battery management systems (BMS), and charging faults.

At United College of Technology (UCT), our 6-month EV Electric Vehicle Repairing Course in Rawalpindi trains beginners, working mechanics, electricians, and diploma holders in EV diagnostics, high-voltage safety, battery management, charging systems, and workshop repair procedures through hands-on lab practice.

Why a “Dead” EV Is Rarely a Dead Battery?

Many EV breakdowns have nothing to do with the main traction battery. Technicians who only know “replace the pack” lose customers money and trust. In this course you learn to trace the real cause:

  • 12V auxiliary battery failure: An EV can refuse to start or show “not ready” because the small 12V battery is weak, even when the high-voltage pack is full.
  • Isolation faults: Insulation leakage between the HV system and the chassis triggers warnings and can block driving or charging.
  • Contactor and pre-charge problems: Faults that stop the high-voltage system from closing properly.
  • BMS and cell imbalance issues: Reduced range, early charge cut-off, and sudden power limits.
  • Charge port and communication errors: The car and the charger fail to “agree” and charging stops.

Built for Pakistan’s Heat, Dust and Unstable Power

Most EV training content is copied from Europe or America. Pakistani conditions create different problems, and our training addresses them:

  • 45°C summers: How battery thermal management and cooling loops behave under extreme heat, and why reduced-power or derating warnings appear.
  • Voltage fluctuation and load shedding: How unstable supply interrupts charging sessions and stresses onboard chargers, and how to advise customers on safe charging setups.
  • Monsoon and dust: Water ingress in connectors, corrosion on terminals, and clogged cooling paths.
  • Mixed fleet reality: Real workshop practice includes imported EVs, hybrids, and low-voltage electric two- and three-wheelers.

Your 6-Month Roadmap, Month by Month

Month Focus What You Practice
1 Electrical foundations for EVs DC/AC basics, reading wiring harness diagrams, multimeter use, 12V system testing
2 High-voltage safety discipline PPE, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), manual service disconnect (MSD), verifying zero voltage before work
3 Battery and BMS Cells, modules, packs, state of charge/health, cell balancing, insulation resistance testing
4 Motors and power electronics Traction motors (BLDC/PMSM), inverters, motor controllers, DC-DC converters, regenerative braking
5 Charging systems Level 1/2 and DC fast charging, onboard chargers (OBC), connector standards, charging communication faults
6 Advanced diagnostics and workshop readiness Live scanner data, DTC analysis, case-based troubleshooting, final practical assessment, customer handling

Fault Files You Will Actually Work On

Instead of only reading theory, you diagnose realistic faults such as:

  • EV shows “not ready” and will not move
  • Charging stops early or never starts
  • Reduced power (“limp mode”) in hot weather
  • Isolation fault warning after rain or washing
  • Sudden range drop without any visible damage
  • Charging errors when supply voltage is unstable

Safety Is Not a Chapter, It’s a Habit

Traction batteries work at roughly 300V to over 800V DC, so one careless step can be fatal. Before any hands-on work, trainees learn to:

  • Inspect and use Class 0 (1000V rated) insulated gloves with protective outer gloves
  • Select correctly rated CAT III/IV multimeters and insulated tools
  • Apply LOTO and MSD isolation procedures
  • Wait for system discharge, then verify zero voltage before touching any component
  • Work only under qualified supervision during practical sessions

Who Will Get the Most Out of This Course?

  • Beginners with no automotive background who want to learn a high-demand trade
  • Building and auto electricians moving into high-voltage vehicle work
  • Diploma holders and tech enthusiasts looking for a practical career skill
  • Workshop owners who want to add EV service to their garage

Where This Skill Pays?

  • EV Diagnostic Technician: Dealerships, service centers, and specialized workshops
  • Battery Maintenance Specialist: Battery testing, servicing, and balancing facilities
  • Charging Infrastructure Assistant: Installing and servicing public and commercial charging points
  • Workshop Owner or Freelancer: Own EV service workshop or mobile diagnostic service
